ABOUT US
My
husband and I have been owned by animals all of our lives. We met in 1995
and we were married soon afterward. We combined our "kids"
two cats, a dog, and a son to make a happy family . Unfortunately,
one of our cats Boris passed away. In his memory, we searched for a cat
who was loving and gentle just like our Boris. Our search took use to
the doorstep of a Ragdoll breeder. We were so impressed by this cat we
decided that we would breed this wonderful type of breed of cat to share the
joy of owning a Ragdoll. This fun hobby has become a way of living and we have
had fun through the years! We have made many families happy and have come to
learn that animals are more comfortable in their own environment .
In
2001 we were blessed with another boy Luke. The Ragdoll cat is patient and great
with kids. Our Ragdoll cats accepted Luke as one of their own. Since they are
so dog like I trained them to not jump in the crib. When Luke was two he thought
that cat tails were handles. He would pull Hermes by the tail down the hall.
Hermes meowed at me when he had enough. The cats never harmed a hair on Lukes
head. Of course, we taught Luke that cat tails are not to be used as handles.
Our cattery is small so that we could hand raise our kittens in our home.
We feel that all animals are better off if they have one to one attention.
That is why our animals live, eat, sleep, and play with us in the home. Even
after Ragdoll cats became very popular in the Midwest we choose to keep the
cattery small only producing 15 to 20 kittens a year.Olympusdolls
is now the oldest Ragdoll cattery in Indiana. Our cattery is registered with
The International Cat Association(TICA), Cat Fanciers Association(CFA), and
the Ragdoll Fanciers Association. But our Ragdoll family members and
others wanted me to "baby-sit" their pets while they were away.

The
Evansville/Newburgh tornado of November of 2005 destroyed homes, business, and
lives in our area. I was one of many who helped clean and rescue animals. Many
people told me I should start pet sitting since I can work with any kind of
animal. That this was my true calling. So I became pet first aid certified,
through Olympusdolls cattery I have a great relationship with my vet Newburgh
Animal Care Clinic, I became insured and bonded as a trained pet sitter through
Pet Sitters International and National Association Of Pets Sitters, I am accredited
business with the Better Business Bureau, and uphold pet sitting ethic standards.
